For reference:

Lithium today is in the wake of the “green” economy - it is a critical element for the development of energy storage systems, which have already received large-scale use in a number of high-tech industries.

Rosatom is implementing a comprehensive lithium project, in which a vertically integrated chain is built from the extraction of this metal to the production of key components of electric vehicles. Lithium mined at the Kolmozerskoye deposit in the Murmansk region will be supplied, among other things, to the needs of Rosatom’s gigafactory for the production of energy storage devices, which is being built in the Kaliningrad region. In parallel with mining and production, an infrastructure for processing lithium energy storage devices is being created.

In June 2023, at the XXVI St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a special investment contract (SPIC) was signed to create the production of lithium-ion cells, modules, traction batteries for electric vehicles and stationary energy storage systems in the Kaliningrad region. The parties to the contract were the Rosatom Fuel Division, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Kaliningrad Region, as well as the Administration of the Nemansky District of the Kaliningrad Region, where high-tech production will be created.

JSC Uranium One Group (an organization of the State Corporation Rosatom) and the state company Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB, Lithium Mines of Bolivia, Bolivia) continue comprehensive cooperation in the development of lithium mining and production in Bolivia, the long-term goal of which is to create a country with a complete value chain for the commercial use of lithium - from its efficient and environmentally friendly mining in the Bolivian salars to the production of products in demand by the market and consumers.

The «ATOMEXPO International Forum» is one of the main congress and exhibition events of the global nuclear industry, organized with the support of the Rosatom State Corporation. The forum has been held annually since 2009. This is the largest business and exhibition platform where leaders of leading industry companies and leading experts discuss the challenges of developing nuclear technologies, strengthen partnerships and exchange best practices. The forum format includes an exhibition and an extensive business program, the main topics of which are traditionally the development of nuclear energy as an environmentally friendly source of energy; human capital management; creation of nuclear energy infrastructure; energy financing and investment; development of non-power nuclear technologies and many others. As part of the Forum, cooperation agreements are traditionally signed between Russian companies and foreign partners.

Russia is actively developing cooperation with friendly states. The implementation of large joint energy projects continues. Rosatom and its divisions take an active part in this work.
